I am currently offering prenatal care, home birth, and water birth services for low risk pregnancies as a certified nurse-midwife in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming. My philosophy is that birth is a normal process and should be viewed as such, and that women have choices about birth and should be supported in making their own decisions about their goals for birth. Mutual trust and respect, evidence-based care, and relationship building are vital components to a satisfying birth experience and best outcomes. My goal is to provide individualized care for women and empower them in the decision making process.
My birthwork experiences include labor/birth doula, labor and delivery nurse in a busy high-risk L&D unit, and homebirth midwife's assistant. I have attended high-risk and VBAC births and have experience with obstetric emergencies. I have also worked as a nurse in pediatric, NICU, and emergency dept. settings. My clinical experiences as a student midwife included over 675 hours of women's health and prenatal visits, vaginal births, newborn assessments, and breastfeeding assistance. I maintain current NRP (newborn resuscitation) certification and bring all of the proper resucitation equipment to home births.
